It is hard not to have fun in Athens, Ohio, throw in a wedding and it becomes Epic. Serena and Marc are two peas in a pod and both bleed Green. The wedding from start to finish was them. The Ceremony was beautifully officiated by one of their great friends, the reception was perfectly done by the crew at Athens Uncorked. Just like any fun event in Athens Ohio it was topped off with a modified version of a pub crawl. Serena and Marc I wish you two all the Happiness in the world and Maybe just Maybe if you are lucky the Browns will make you happy at some point in your future.
A couple of weeks ago I was very fortunate to be the photographer for their lovely wedding. The ceremony was nicely done at Hope church in Dayton and then the reception was at Carillon Park in the transportation building. Michelle and Jimmy are a great couple and you can tell they are absolutely into each other. The atmosphere was fun and playful just as was evident during their cake cutting ceremony. I wish them years and years of happiness.
I have been anxiously waiting to make this post for about 9 months, well 283 days to be exact. This over cooked bundle of joy is my son, so excuse me if I am a hair biased in this post. There is no super exciting tale of riding to the hospital in complete white out conditions or sweating buckets in a desert like heat. It was simple, we showed up at some ridiculous time for our ridiculously early appointment to meet the “little man” (our name for the big guy until we were able to share his name). We were bumped a few hours for more serious situations that arose. We weren’t overly bothered as it reminded us that our baby was doing good and that is why we could be bumped. Most importantly though it allowed me to go get some biscuits and gravy and we all know that is highly important. Back to the story that most people care about, 3 hours and 45 minutes after our scheduled time Tucker Jaxson was pulled from the warm confines known as mommies baby condo and was introduced to my wife and I. The nurse could have waited a few minutes to introduce us to him due to the fact the slime covered purple body of our little boy was very alarming to the woman behind the curtain. Needless to say all worked out well, well that is until night two where he decided to throw an all night eating session into the mix. We are now home and are starting the process of getting our oldest to warm up to having an attention stealing thief in the house.
My session with this Senior was an a real blast, even if it did take two weeks to complete. Gotta love Cincinnati storms in the spring. Needless to say a down power line and hail didn’t derail our attempt to capture the spirit of this young lady. We started off shooting at International Friendship Park. After some time checking out the large Mirror sculpture and curved concrete benches, and a few weeks, we headed to Smale park. Smale Park is a great place to visit and an even better place to shoot portraits, especially later in the evening. She is active in her HS color guard and plays the cello so we made sure to utilize these props to accent who she is in 2016. I am grateful they allowed me to share in this special moment in their lives and want to wish her the best of luck in her senior year.
April 9th is the day that the world was blessed with the arrival of the Rhoades’ twins Madilyn and Mason. The day started a little rough as we fish tailed all the way to Kettering Hospital. Honestly we did, it snowed don’t you know. The snow that day will make for a nice intro into the telling of this story for years to come. I’m sure at some point it will probably be a blizzard but If you know the new daddy, he always says, “you never let facts get in the way of a good story”. Once arriving at the hospital there was a lot of nervous anticipation that was creating almost slap happy behavior by most in attendance. Mom was in great spirits and greeted the army of hospital staff, that always seemed to be lurking, with a smile. Today, the crescendo of a ton of days of anticipation, was finally here. The day that a husband and wife become a mommy and a daddy.
Snow? Wait is that Snow out there? As the sun popped up over the horizon most of Cincinnati was blanketed in a light snow. That didn’t put a chill on the wedding festivities that were about to begin. As the ladies were beginning the process of getting their hair and makeup done at Alba Beauty Studio the snow was all but gone. Sam and Sara are the perfect match of sass and fun with a huge helping of kindness. I seriously doubt they have ever met a stranger. Their love for each other is exuded in all that they do. As the wedding began at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center you could see the anticipation building to begin their new life as husband and wife. The wedding service was a fun representation of who they are with songs reflecting their personalities, they even took time for a celebration dance after the big kiss. If the wedding ceremony was a reflection of the love they feel for each other the reception represented their playful side. I truly think the dancing would have lasted well into the morning if it would have been allowed. I guess I should clarify that I don’t mean dancing by just them or a few people it was everyone. The dance floor was jam packed with smiles and love, and even the occasional twerk, the whole evening.
Sam and Sara, congratulations on your new life together and I wish you a life that includes more love than the day before.
Working with twin babies was a real pleasure and something I look forward to doing again in the future. The whole family was very photogenic and easy to work with. I really enjoyed playing with the mirror. A real joy watching the kids try to figure out who was staring back at them. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I did taking them.
I had the privilege to shoot this wedding with Bryn Weller. The wedding took place at Ault Park, which is an absolutely stunning location. The weather behaved well enough to get most of the pictures done before hand and during the ceremony before the skies opened up. The group then moved onto Washington Park for more pictures before heading into the reception.
Blessed to be able to take portraits of a wonderful family at the Hills and Dales Metro park. The Hills and Dales Metro park is located on Patterson Blvd in Kettering, Ohio.
Sam and Sara decided to have their engagement photography done at Sharon Woods in Cincinnati. The park was in great shape and was in fall mode with some great coloring. Sam and Sara will be tying the knot in early April. Come back later to see those pictures and read more of their story.
